The Globe Yacht Club has evolved from the three around-the-world yacht races founded and financed by Don McIntyre and Jane Zhou

McIntyre Adventure is the brand for the events. Ocean Frontiers Pty Ltd. is the Australian company owned by Don McIntyre that is the organiser of all three events. The Globe Yacht Club is founded by and owned by Don McIntyre and Jane Zhou. The GYC has no clubhouse, which will instead symbolically reside on a member’s yacht, moving on an occasional basis to another yacht. All GYC members hold an open invitation to that club house yacht.

The motto of the GYC is "Per Ardua," meaning "through difficulties."

The ethos of the GYC is captured in the words of Wilferd A. Peterson in "The Art of Adventure":

Create mental pictures of your goals.
Then work to make those pictures become realities.

Exercise your God-given right to choose your own direction.
And influence your own destiny, and try to choose wisely and well.

Have the daring to open doors to new experiences.

The aim and objective of the GYC is to “bring together like-minded sailors who have circumnavigated under sail, or who intend to do so, for friendship, information sharing and to further the concept of supporting adventures that are ‘Human Stories’ inspiring others, by supporting McIntyre Adventure and the GYC .”
